STEAMWORKS SM is played with two alliances consisting of three teams each. Alliances work together to gather "fuel" and score it in the steam engine and reuse it. Alliances also work together to place gears on the flight ship. Teams that successfully place all of the gears on the ship will take off in "flight." Additionally, teams have the option of hanging their robots on the flight ship via a rope. Robots that are secure for take off will receive an extra point bonus. This is the first year that human players are allowed on the playing field during the match. One human player from each team (total of three) will be in the flight ship hard at work to ensure a successful take off.
The Metal Jackets have been hard at work thus far and were ecstatic about this year's game and field elements. The Metal Jackets will strive to create an innovative and versatile robot to complete various tasks during the match. They are also very hard at work finalizing their Chairman's project to present at the upcoming regional events. Additionally, they will provide support throughout the season for the All-County FRC team, Supernova.
