Description: The Metal Jackets hosted their second annual workshop at Osbourn Park High School in partnership with Lockheed Martin and Pink Space Theory. Female leads on the team have fully coordinated the workshop: from the activities being done to the schedule being followed. The workshop, “STEM is a Girl Thing,” is catered towards female elementary students (grades 3-5 and ages 8-12) in Title I schools without a robotics team in Prince William County, focusing on building their programming, electrical, and mechanical skills. Across a two weekend session, the girls will be provided activities and opportunities for collaboration, teaching the core values of FIRST and the engineering process.
Activities:
Making a Water Mill that generates electricity
Hydraulic Fighting Robots
Coding with LEGO Spike Prime
