Throughout the years, we have sought opportunities to promote STEAM in our community.
We have established FLL teams, FTC teams, and even FRC teams.
We host competitions for FIRST Lego League and VEX Robotics.
We showcase our robots at events like the local airshow and our annual FLL Fun Day.
2023 Open Hive
In 2023, the Metal Jackets began the new tradition of Open Hive night: a night in which key community figures involved in our outreach are invited to visit our shop and get a tour of our progress, view our various award submissions, and sit down for a banquet with us! Our Open Hive guest list included the Osbourn Park High School principal, three members of the Prince William County School Board, various officials from partnership organizations, and Virginia State Delegate Danica Roem!
2025 Open Hive
In 2025, the Metal Jackets brought back their Open Hive tradition after a year hiatus due to unforeseen circumstances. Our 2025 Open Hive was heavily geared towards new outreach initiatives, advocacy, and exisiting connections! We invited prospective students, advocates, community figures, and more, to view our progress, our award submissions, and our many initiatives. Our Open Hive guest list included Osbourn Park High School Administration, parents, prospective students, and Virginia State Delegate Michelle Maldonado!
