Metal Jackets Applaud PWC School Board Vote Approving Two New Robotics Centers
Prince William County, VA - February 4, 2026 - The Metal Jackets Robotics Team applaud the Prince William County School Board for voting in favor of Option B in the 2027 - 31, Capital Improvement Plan (CIP). This is a landmark decision that will establish two dedicated robotics centers — one on the east side of the county and one on the west side.
This forward-looking investment represents a major step towards expanding equitable access to high-quality STEM education across Prince William County. By strategically locating the centers on both sides of the county, the School Board has taken meaningful action to reduce geographical barriers, increase student participation, and meet the growing demand for advanced technical learning opportunities.
"As a student-led robotics team, we see firsthand how access to proper facilities, mentorship, and hands-on learning can change lives," said Michael Kaloudelis, the Business Lead of Team 2068. "This vote sends a powerful message that Prince William County Public Schools (PWCS) belives in its students and in the future of STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math)"
The new robotics centers are expected to support a wide range of programs, including robotics teams, engineering coursework, computer science instruction, and workforce-aligned technical training. For students interested in innovation, problem-solving, and careers in high-demand fields, these centers will serve as hubs for collaboration and creativity.
The Metal Jackets commend the School Board for prioritizing long-term educational outcomes and positioning Prince William County as a regional leader in STEM advancement. This decision not only strengthens programs, but also opens doors for students who may not have previously had access to robotics or advanced STEM resources.
"We are grateful to School Board members, educators, and community advocates who supported this vision," the team added. "We look forward to partnering, competing, and learning in these future state-of-the-art facilities."
The Metal Jackets remain committed to advocating for inclusive STEM opportunities and supporting initiatives that empower students across the county.
